The objective of this research is to identify and analyze the application of sustainable policies in health institutions. An exploratory survey was conducted, in which health institutions were identified that had practices geared to the objectives of the 2030 sustainability agenda. The analysis of the material demonstrated the emergence of the promotion of research in the area of hospital sustainability, mainly that can guide managers to adopt sustainable measures as a way to reduce hospital costs. In addition, it is possible to identify the various aspects of sustainability in hospital institutions that range from efficient waste management and renewable energy generation, to continued basic care projects that aim to reduce the development of diseases in the long term. The discussion of the results indicated that the area of health management has been taking short steps towards sustainable development, given the low number of institutions that adopt such practices in Brazil and also in other countries. On the other hand, it presents positive results in the institutions that have adopted measures that seek to reduce environmental degradation.
